Here at Inside Out Living, we obsess endlessly about interior design and home decor (as well as the outsides of our homes too). Curating products that sit together properly but that also chime with our customers is hugely important to how we operate when preparing for new seasons with care and precision. So, it almost goes without saying that part and parcel of this is getting ahead of colour and design trends that will help inform interiors for the years ahead. At this time of year, key trend authorities WGSN and Coloro, outline their tip offs for what’s likely to gain traction a little over a year from now. It’s a time of year that always excites us, forecasting ahead and exploring the world of design and colour. Read on to find out which colours and trends are likely to play a key part in 2024.

Radiant Red

As vibrant as it is nurturing, radiant red is set to become a key colour trend for 2024. Its vivacity speaks to the height of summer with an exuberance and celebratory feel. However, this colour warms as much as it vividly pops, and therefore it radiates an element of energising self-care. This shade is trans-seasonal in many ways, and in terms of design trends it could easily translate into homewares, packaging and technology. We at Inside Out Living think it could become a delightful accent colour for coming seasons

Elemental Blue

Elemental blue is the next colour outlined by these two trend powerhouses. This deeper shade of blue is particularly calming, exuding a certain cool authority over its surroundings. It represents a slowing down of pace, and a returning to a heightened sensory awareness – reconnecting and rediscovering balance. As such it will suit minimalist aesthetics and matte finishes particularly well, alongside a presence in digital formats. Stability and practicality align with this hue. We could certainly see this soothing shade punctuating home decor, kitchenwares and even art.

Nutshell Brown

Welcome the retro and re-purposed with nutshell brown. This integrally rich shade of brown is another excellent trans-seasonal offering which speaks to sustainability trends, but also nostalgia. Its natural world grounding is in keeping with design trends surrounding the environment, product re-purposing and a less is more approach to consumerism. It’s touted to be used across natural and synthetic products that are seen in the home but also in the tech world. With its timeless qualities we certainly envisage it making a heavy comeback in design trends surrounding wood furniture, but also informing home decor inspiration more generally.

Cyber Lime

Cyber lime energizes everybody at Inside Out Living as much as it’s supposed to. We promise it’s a mere coincidence that this colour is an almost-match with one of our new brand colours, but here we are, trend setting as ever! Happy coincidences aside, this zesty green/yellow is set to become a shade seen in many industries. Both sprightly and natural, it signifies a connection between nature and technology, alongside a wellness of body and mind. We foresee cyber lime being used as an accent shade, helping specific home items pop – like vases, plant pots and art.

Fondant Pink

The final WGSN x Coloro design trends colour for 2024 is fondant pink. This outgoing hue distils youth and playfulness, with a certain freedom of delight. Sweet, yet mellow its sparing use will evoke a mood upswing. Forecasted to be used amongst interiors in small amounts, it speaks to inclusivity and warmth as much as it does to joy, hope and innocence. Fondant pink is certainly a memorable shade and the Inside Out Living team think it could breakthrough as an accent shade in glassware or soft furnishings.

This bright note brings us to the end of our  colour and design trends roundup for 2024.
