Dining benches offer flexibility, style, and look just as great when paired with your existing furniture & chairs as they do on their own. Of course dining benches are perfect for use in dining areas (the clue is in the name after all). However, they also look great when used in other areas of the house. Make sure to maximise use of benches in your home by checking out the following ideas:

Mix & Match With Dining Chairs

Dining benches are perfect for mixing up the monotony of everyday arrangements. Incorporating a bench amongst your other dining chairs is one of the simplest ways to add another dimension to your seating, whilst creating a more sociable set up. There are endless opportunities for mixing and matching chairs and benches. At IOL, we’ve ensured our dining benches and chairs can be purchased individually, giving you the freedom to create your dream set up. For a contemporary look, the Urban dining bench looks great when paired with the leather Montana chairs – we think the contrast of textures offset each other excellently. If you prefer a more traditional look, try pairing the Modern Farmhouse dining bench with matching Modern Farmhouse dining chairs (you can also buy this as a set with the table included).

Go All Out With Banquet Style Dining

Mix up mundane midweek meals, whilst creating the best set-up for entertaining, by using dining benches to create a banquet style look. This is easily done by lining the benches either side of the table, offering plenty of room for multiple guests, whilst creating a sociable environment for dinner parties or everyday meals with the family. The Cotswold dining bench has a heavier pine frame, making it perfect for creating a sophisticated statement in this style of living space. For a lighter finish, the Bergen dining bench is made from a combination of solid oak and veneers. Complete the look, by placing a candelabra at the centre of the table.

Create A Cosy Coffee Corner

Dining benches are absolutely perfect for informal gatherings – this is just one of the things we love the most about them. This makes them an ideal choice for use with a coffee table, creating a relaxed and inviting set up for catching up with loved ones over a cuppa. Dining benches look best paired with rectangular coffee tables, such as the Bergen or Loft coffee tables, as these best complement their shape. Our Modern Farmhouse, White & Grey and Urban benches are all available in small versions which are ideal if you’re hoping to create a snug coffee area in your home.

Set Up A Comfy Hallway Perch

So far, we’ve talked a lot about how to style dining benches in your dining space. However, what isn’t always well known are the number of ways to incorporate benches into the rest of your living space! That’s the beauty of them being so flexible. A dining bench is the perfect size for use as a comfortable and practical seating option for the hallway, due to its slimline design. An ideal perching spot for taking off shoes or having a quick break, dining benches also contribute to the visual appearance of your hallway. Wooden benches are particularly well paired with rustic decor.

Place At The End Of The Bed

Need a little extra seating in your bedroom? Or perhaps a spare spot to place throws and towels? Dining benches look elegant when placed at the end of a bed. The Bergen dining bench in black makes a chic addition to modern bedrooms, complementing a variety of decor styles. If your bedroom celebrates country, the White & Grey bench features a chunky frame and pine top, making a gorgeous nod to farmhouse style. Decorate with a cosy throw, and you’ve incorporated a delightful element of rustic decor into your bedroom.
