Inside Out Living not only provides a fine hand-picked selection of inside and outside goods for the home but we also greatly value social responsibility. Which is why we actively give back to causes we think matter. We have two incredible established UK charities which we partner with. £2 from every single sale, with no exceptions, goes to either one, chosen by the customer at checkout. HomeStart UK maintains crucial support to families, delivered by trained volunteers inside their own homes and BF Adventure is an organisation based in Cornwall which aids the recovery and social rehabilitation of children through educational activity in an outdoors environment.

A faction of the Inside Out Living team were thrilled to secure tickets to the annual BF Adventure Charity Ball held on Friday 4th October at the luxurious and grand Falmouth Hotel. The event, supporting the charity, excitingly doubled as an ‘auction of promises’ where ball goers would bid on numerous items and experience-packages of varying value. We were very proud to provide two prizes in the ever popular and lavish Bramblecrest Bredon Cocoon and the very useful All-in-One Cooking Station. The ball is extremely well attended every year, guests turning out in fine black tie/ball gown attire, with local faces of the great and the good of the south west, as well as trustees, in attendance.

Laid on, within the price of the ticket, was a delicious three course meal; the best pick in our combined estimation was a ham hock starter, followed by baked hake and sticky toffee pudding to finish. Between the main course and the starter began the auction, a frenzy of sign wielding from guests and rapid-fire vocals from the auctioneer. It was really such fun! Some of the other prizes included exclusive relaxation/spa packages at renowned Cornish hotels, meals at notable local restaurants, surf or diving experiences and various items including a specially designed skateboard.

A specifically touching moment came when BF’s managing director, Adrian Richards, gave a thanking speech detailing some of the work completed this year, but also BF’s plans for the year ahead. In his address he noted some particularly hard working and long serving BF instructors. In one individual’s case there has been an incredible 26 years of valuable and loyal service given. In particular this man’s efforts in recent years with one boy who, as a result, had come on immensely in his personal life. It’s these touching stories and knowing what BF does which had more than a few IO Living staff on the brink of tears. Kudos to all BF’s wonderful instructors.

After dinner and auction conclusion lights were dimmed, a disco ball dropped and the sweet sound of pop shrouded the night air. The dance floor steadily filled and some of our less discerning members proceeded in throwing some suspect looking shapes.

Eleanor Devenish, BF’s excellent marketing and events manager whom we interviewed a couple of months ago, let us know that our contribution would go towards a new marvellous climbing wall, recently built at the BF centre. Excitingly they’re naming a climbing route after Inside Out Living!

We really had a ball, pardon the awful pun, but what most resonates with us is that it’s all towards an amazing cause. Please, do check out BF’s site to see how you can further help this exceptional organisation and for future public events. Right, we’re off to put the final touches on one of our new Autumn Winter indoor furniture ranges!
